Landfill Gas-To-Energy

Landfill Gas-to-Energy (LFGTE) makes use of the gas naturally generated by solid waste landfills to achieve a dual benefit for the environment. Municipal solid waste landfills are the second largest source of human-related methane emissions in the United States, and a significant contributor to greenhouse gases (both methane and carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere.
By burning this gas cleanly, we accomplish two goals at once: electricity from a renewable source, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. There are three technologies for using this gas which we consider practical in today's market. Click on them to learn more:
